Today we are chatting about burnout in your indie maker business. Is it real, can you change lanes if needed?

Everybody today is all about burnout, yes burnout is a thing, a real thing!  So I didn’t really think that I would ever get burnt out but oh my gosh you do. Especially when you are the CEO creative everything, chief everything officer of your business, right?  It is so hard to stay focused do all the things and keep a positive mindset behind your business.

So today I just wanted to talk briefly about burnout and what can you do to not get it or at least to combat it when you do get burnout.  so one of the things that I like to do is, I have hobbies.  We paint, the kids and I will paint and we are now starting a garden.  My kids and I are doing a garden journal and we’re starting what we have to do to do this. But we are trying to slip in different things throughout the day and throughout the weeks. one of the things that we love to do is we like to go see old plantation homes live down in Louisiana it’s really kind of cool So try to find things that are local to you that you can get out into nature to just take a walk in a park or take a walk down your street anything to help separate yourself from your business.

Especially since most of us live with our businesses right? I know, I do and it’s like you can never really walk away from it fully not like you could when you work for someone else.  Or say you do work for someone else and then you have to come home and run your business too. So try to set some meaningful time aside that you don’t get that burnout as quickly. Don’t get me  wrong, you can’t avoid it you guys it is real it will happen and it’s pretty much guaranteed at some point you will have burnout.  so how do you keep it from letting it drag you down in your business?

That’s kind of the next question so one of the ways that you can really think about it is, am I doing the same thing?  Am I running kind of in a hamster wheel?  Are all my sales starting to kind of plateau? Do I need to look at something different? Can I change my direction? Can I change lanes? Does my brand need to change?  Those are all things that you can ask yourself and you can don’t ever let anybody, I should say try not we’re trying to get rid of that whole don’t ever and don’t and can't out of our vocabulary. Try not to let other people dictate what is good for you and your business. you know it in the end you guys do you know deep down what you have to do and really you know try to keep yourself from being in an expectations box. I think all of us as Indie Makers like to do that. We like to put ourselves into that expectation box because everyone’s looking at us and then we think oh man I don’t look like everyone else. You don’t that’s the best part about this.  You don’t… you are you…you are your business. So try try to look at what directions you may need to change, if you need to spruce your brand up, and be different if what you were working on didn’t work and if you just keep beating your head over and over again. Over the same problems the same things it’s time to choose something different within your business within your brand. So that’s it that’s for the day my thoughts are you can change direction and there’s no shame in that, in changing your lane in a completely different direction it with your business. Don’t put yourself in an expectations box that’s the biggest thing because you are the only one to set those expectations, nobody else and if you are setting to many expectations at one time.  baby step them back you guys take one small step at a time and work towards that you will find success is so much closer when you try not to throw everything into the mix. So anyway that’s it for quick wisdom thanks for joining me and make sure you check out my other YouTube channels and the Unique Makers and making with the soil or Miss Doyle’s Soapery see you later
